MADE FOR CURIOUS MINDS
About CountryChase and map credits
CountryChase is a browser geography game for learning where countries are. Start with a familiar continent, explore its neighbors, and build toward the world map.
Created by ChKo Apps
CountryChase is made by ChKo Apps. The aim is simple: make country locations easier to remember through short quizzes, repetition, and a map you can explore at your own pace.
You can play without an account. Personal bests stay in your browser, and there is no online leaderboard. Read the privacy policy to learn about the site's analytics and advertising services and your Google Analytics choices.
For feedback, bug reports, map questions, or privacy requests, email support@countrychase.com. If you report a game problem, the quiz page, your browser, and a short description of what happened help us understand it.
A world map with limits
The game uses locally bundled World Atlas border data derived from Natural Earth. Natural Earth data is public domain; the World Atlas software license is bundled here.
The map uses a flat Mercator projection, which enlarges areas toward the poles. Use it to learn locations and neighbors; its shapes do not show countries at equal area. Borders are generalized, so some small details are simplified. Selected small countries and islands have unlabeled point targets to make them easier to choose.
Boundaries and disputed areas follow the source dataset. The map is a learning aid and does not express a position on sovereignty or borders.
Population data and the 160-place World quiz
The question pool uses the World Bank's Population, total indicator (SP.POP.TOTL), 2025, licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.
The source values were filtered to the original 195-country pool and ranked by population. The World quiz retains the 159 largest available values and adds Greenland separately. Continent quizzes use all 195 countries from the original pool, regardless of population. Greenland is exclusive to the World quiz. The population snapshot is bundled with the game, so the pools do not change during play. See the full population attribution and processing notes and every included place.
